1. It saves Money and Time:

Although it is strange, hiring an interior designer would actually save you money. It saves you from doing costly design mistakes.

Budgeting and Planning: A designer does the budgeting and saves your effort and time for the same. Be crystal clear in your budgeting and trust the designer to make the most of your budget. The designer will save you from paying too much for something which you would have got at half of the price you paid.

Increased Sale or Resale value: Hiring a designer helps you to increase the sale or resale value of your house.

Save time: Even if you think that you can decorate your home yourself, remember that you need to pull this off with the limited spare time that you have. Everything will be done faster and you’ll have less head-ache if you hire a professional.

It is said that, “Incredible designing doesn’t happen by chance.” You need a professional if you want quality work.

Professional designer would have a solid action plan which would help you to spend efficiently too. Trained eyes can help you avoid some common mistakes and they can notice certain details which were overlooked by you.

There are certain details to be verified by an expert. For instance, the living room furniture must be symmetrical, the coffee table must be of the right dimension, the carpet flooring must be suitable, art on the left must fit in with the doors on the right. “Harmony is beauty”, when it comes to interiors and designers know how to make things aesthetically appealing.

Sofas and Couches: Choosing the Best Color

furniture-design-stylesHow To Choose The Best Sofa Color

Sofas and couches are a pretty expensive investment. Naturally, you want to be satisfied by the items you choose. One important aspect to consider is the color and how it will harmonize with the rest of the objects in the room where the new furniture will be placed.

Check the following tips on how to choose the best sofa color.

There are two scenarios: you either start a project from scratch or you work around an already decorated and fitted room. In the first case, you should choose the sofa first and the rest on the items should harmonize.

In the second case, it is the opposite. The sofa will either have to play support role, by enhancing the already existing color palette or will have to adopt a neutral tone.

In the first case, if the sofa will be the focal point of the room, a vibrant luxury fabric or a colorful print will surely highlight the furniture.

If you want the room to look larger, you should complement the color of the wall with the one of the couch. It is a simple, but efficient interior design trick.

One of the toughest decisions in color selection is whether the color will be light or dark. Again, this aspect will depend on the surroundings. You must select a shade that matches the floor. A wooden, dark flooring can make the sofa blend in or totally vanish. Keep in mind that sofas are made of fabrics that absorb the light – they are not shiny lamps.

modern-trendy-office-designHow to Work Like Professional Home Decorators

Being a home decorator without a degree is a tough task if someone is looking at it with a professional eye.

But when it comes to decorate your own home, anyone can become a decorator and start revamping his home just like a professional decorator would do. All it takes is simple knowledge of home improvements and a classic style that can please every eye.

Doing so, you can save a lot of money which otherwise would go into the pockets of a professional decorator. When it is possible to be your own decorator, and then why not spend that money on your home instead of a decorator? Plus, you get everything of your own choice, which is an add-on for your home project.

go-green-interior-designBeing a decorator requires some pre-planning and homework before you move on even a single step; and the very first step that would lead you to be a home decorator is a proper plan.

As colors play the most essential role in a home decor, you need to choose a color scheme of your choice. Professional home decorators take several colors schemes and then make their selection. You too will have to do the same for working like a professional home decorator.

Autumn Decorating Made Easy

halloween-decorationsBeautiful and Easy Autumn Decorating

I admit it. This is my favorite time of year. While friends and family are unabashed lovers of the summer, with its long sunny days, barbecues, and vacations, I wait impatiently each summer for autumn to arrive.

This is decorating season. My season. When the days get shorter, and the nights chillier, our attention is brought back indoors. It is the ideal time for bringing the colors of the harvest season into your home, and onto your porch.

When we think of autumn, a small palette of colors springs to mind. Colors like pumpkin, deep gold, and rust. The colors we associate with this season come straight from the harvest.

fall-decorations-pumpkinsWhy not jazz up your traditional fall displays with something unexpected? A deep pumpkin color looks dramatic with an infusion of eggplant or a fresh apple green. Apple red along with the warm gold adds fun to your tabletop display, centerpiece, or porch vignette.

For the dining room table or sideboard, think outside the box. We tend to create and choose table decorations and vignettes that conform to a square or circle shape. Some of the most dramatic tabletop decorating travels down an imaginary center line of the table, and leads your eye to the other end.

Tabletop candle holders are popular right now in long horizontal shapes. A simple holder in a dark finish of wood or metal would look wonderful with assorted Autumn-hued silk foliage running casually alongside it. If you love the look of hurricane lamps, use three or four, instead of one, then add your autumn foliage at the bases, for a casual “I just carried this in from the outdoors” look.

Don’t stop yourself after simply decorating a dining room table for the season. Look around your house for other opportunities to celebrate the harvest season.
